I've been thinking and trying out ways we might be able to view and exchange Vader images to provide alternative presentation and perception than with just standard photos.

Stereoscopic 3D is one simple way to provide a 3D depiction from 2 images, as described here:

http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Stereoscopic-Photography/

It's nothing new or ground-breaking, but I haven't seen it applied to Vader images. It works pretty well as shown here depicting my Darth Ugly ANH. Using the "cross-eyed" viewing technique, the 3D image can be seen as the middle of 3 images as you relax and defocus your eyes. For me I can see it best when zooming or sitting back such that the viewing angle width is about 25 degrees.

I found an iPhone app that helps to take two pictures to form a stereoscopic 3D image. After taking the first picture, it is shown transparently as you take the second picture. You can also run an autoalignment and make fine-tuned position adjustments after taking the picture. Multiple 3D modes are available including parallel (easier on my eyes than cross-eyed). The app is strangely called, "i3DSteroidfree" .

Anyway, here's a few more 3D images I snapped using a white foam board backdrop. The dome and eyebrow shapes really depict well in 3D, I think.

Feel free to contribute to this thread any 3D stereo images of items in your collection, Vader or non-Vader.

The previous pics were made in 3D "parallel" style (where the right image is to be seen with the right eye; the left image with the left eye). I made those pictures on an iPhone looking the 3D image on the phone from perhaps 10 inches away. I could mentally/visually process the 3D image more comfortably using the "parallel" method.

However, when I look at these on my 19" laptop, I could not for the life of me get the 3D image to form. Instead of getting a 3D image, I got a headache.

I realize that when the image is larger, parallel mode doesn't work if it would require your right eye to look to the right and your left eye look to the left at the same time. For most people it's impossible (unless you're genetically related to Marty Feldman).

So the following images are in the 3D cross-eyed mode (where the right image is to be seen with the left eye; the left image with the right eye). It's not as comfortable to view, but from a distance of about 4 feet in full screen on my 19" laptop, I can see the 3D image OK.

Just don't look at them for too long, or you might .... :puke

Here's another, in "cross-eyed" style. The light source is from a window on the left which is reflected from a large white rectangular section of cardboard below and in front of the helmet.

I know these 3D Vader image pairs haven't been very popular, but here's one that might be worth the slight headache you could get trying to form up the 3D image. I included both parallel and cross-eyed versions (the images are the same just swapped left and right). Choose the one where you can see the tusks coming out at you. Every now and then you'll come across consecutive screenshots that line up in viewpoint the same as your left and right eyes would which allow for a 3D depiction like this.

Viewing tips:

The top pair is best seen on a small screen such as a cell phone. Rotate phone in landscape orientation and scale the image pair such that the distance between the image centers is slightly less than the distance between your pupils. (Left eye pupil over Vader's nose in left image; right eye pupil over Vader's nose in right image.) Start with the phone close in front of your eyes, and slowly push the phone straight away from your eyes. Relax your eyes (don't cross them), and concentrate on the center of the screen. At about 6-12 inches the 3D image should form up at the center. This is the most relaxing viewing method for your eyes because it's about equivalent to focusing at infinity.

The bottom pair is best seen on a large screen such as a computer screen. The distance between the image centers should be greater than the distance between your eye pupils. Here you'll have to cross your eyes slightly to see the 3D image form up between the two images. It's less comfortable to view but some may find it easier to form up the 3D image.
