The future beautification process. Testing the dreads.

A pass with a darker color, mainly concentrating at the dread cones and center of the crown of the head, but also dabbling splotches of the color sparsely around the rest of the bust to break up the uniformity of the color. The next pass will be an even darker reddish brown where I will try to follow the shapes based on reference of the original head.

It's strange how the whitish yellow color looked so right out in my workroom but way too yellow in my living room. So, I gave it a quick run-over with a lighter color. Funny how it just makes the light brownish color look darker. I may have to go even lighter, but I think it is already looking better. The living room color is much more like the work room color in the earlier picture and that was the color I was originally going for. Note to self: next time, do not mix colors in the work room, but rather in the living room to get it right.

Okay, I can see I haven't updated with the latest steps, since Imageshack decided to become a pay site. I went darker and darker and attempted to paint the darker spots across the brow, but was never satisfied with the result so I sprayed it again with the base color to eradicate it, but still leaving the faint contours for when I'll try to redo it with my airbrush. Will go over it again with the lighter base color.

I couldn't help myself. After drilling out the remaining holes and filing them clean and pretty, I just got the urge to see it with the dreads in. I only did the upper two rows... and this is how he looks on a bad hair day. And yes... he dropped a tooth during the drilling session, but that's okay. They are only glued on temporarily. Need to make them prettier before I glue them down solid.
