Which of the two methods, is the best way to do this? |

There are certain points that you want to mask like the demarcation line along the side of the nose but I paint freehand. The other thing I would emphasize is DON'T try to emphasize the brush strokes to make it look hand painted. That appearance will come naturally through the characteristics of the paint combined with the brushwork. Too many people try to make the helmet look drybrushed and emphasize the brush strokes and, with respect to their efforts, it looks totally wrong. My $.02 Cheers and good luck! Dave |

Totally agree with Dave on this. Another tip is to use good quality brushes that do not leave behind their bristles in the finish. |

Thanks guys. My next problem is trying to find a gunmetal that wont react with the acrylic enamel black I used for the black. I went the unfortunate route of using a Duplicolor the last time and crackle-city... I didn't research enough... oops. |
