Hello all. First post! Though I've been admiring all your research and work for a good while. I'd like to share with you the fruits of many weeks of labor and learning! This helmet took a nasty fall a few years ago, and looked rather battle damaged. When I finally got round to fixing it, I thought I'd try my hand at re-shaping it too. It was hard work for me, as I've never really done anything like it before. But, I learned a lot. Anyway, here it is, sorry for the crappy pic quality-I will take better ones when I have sanded out all the orange peel. Let me know what you think-can you guess what it used to be?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and a great way to start things off. My guess would be a Rubies Supreme dome, and if it is you really did wonders to it.

Thanks for the kind words guys! It is actually a Rubies fiberglass. I always thought it looked like a bit of a formless blob, which covered over a decent sculpt. Like somehow as it went from generation to generation, it lost all the details. So, basically I removed a lot of material to bring out the centre ridge and the eye brow shapes. My big dilemma now is; do I leave it there or go after the mask too! It already looks a lot better. Other than a better and reversed paint scheme, more nose silver I can't really tell what else is inaccurate. Better tusks and mesh I suppose, but I'd just buy those. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello all. Here's the latest progress. Spent a couple of hours sanding and polishing today. Not perfectly smooth yet, but pretty close. I'm happy how it's coming along. Anyway, here it is on the mask and stand. Hope you like. I still undecided whether I should try to fix up the mask too. I'd value your opinions/ suggestions.

Thanks!

That's definitely an improvement over the stock state. Very well done! :thumbsup

Looking good. Honestly, I don't know if I've ever seen anyone mod a Rubies face mask. It really IS a warped piece and depending on what you plan on modding - only sharpening things up a bit or also doing structural modifications - I'm sure we can help you out with tips and pointers.
