Yep, my ABS kit arrived today Carsten and I couldn't be happier with it! The level of detail is fantastic, and it's very nice to see all the teardrop detail intact. It looks like they've done a great job at moulding the original. The matt off-white ABS that the kit's formed in feels nice. It's got a good amount of flex to it, and has captured all the lumps and bumps on the cap/back. It's texture somehow reminds me very slightly of HDPE, but less waxy.. and of course the ABS should be more paint-friendly. It's definantly the most detailed ANH replica I've seen to date. |

Please post pictures. That's a very nice review of the helmet. Really hope they'll attempt a set with the kind of gloss ABS that AP used once - not the acrylic capped stuff, as I never liked the look of that. |

Mine just arrived a couple of hours ago i ordered a matt kit as i plan to paint it, it's the only way to get the authentic look of the original and seems silly to me to get a pull of this quality and sell it short. I can understand for anyone wanting to costume or troop but this is purely for display for me. I would post some pics but i don't have a decent camera so any pics i take just aren't going to show the level of detail on this thing. |

Well, I'm an all display guy, but I just like the look of that gloss ABS. Maybe I should just take that matt ABS kit and stop bugging them about the gloss... |

How would you rate this compared to the TE2 and SFS helmets? |

Darth_Finger wrote: How would you rate this compared to the TE2 and SFS helmets? The TE2 helmets were from damaged molds from a soft original helmet. And the SFS... if you are talking about the TE HDPE ones, then they were taken from a mold made from the outside of a cast made from the scan. In my view, not really comparable. |

Darth_Finger wrote: How would you rate this compared to the TE2 and SFS helmets? Depends on your personal needs and taste, for me i want to get as accurate as i can for display purposes and the RS props helmet is the best i've seen to date as far as stunt helmets go, there's a combination of things in it's favour which put it ahead of the rest for me. The donor helmet it's cast from is a nicer pull than the Brian R helmet which the other replicas out there originate from(the ones that are cast from the inside anyway), the back/cap section in particular is a lot softer on the Brian R helmet. There's also no evidence of any clean up, repair or reworking on the RS props replicas which is apparent on all the others despite what those producers might say, people talk BS but the physical evidence speaks for itself. And a big plus for me is Simon and Rob themselves in the way they conduct themselves, they don't appear to be ego or greed driven like certain others i wont name, they haven't engaged in petty arguments and trying to rubbish other people or declared themselves kings of all things stormtrooper, and they haven't placed an exorbitant price on the goods they've produced. If i wanted a helmet just for costuming and i could get hold of a lid from another producer which wasn't a recast cheaper i'd maybe settle, but to be honest the pricing on the RS props helmets isn't at all high so even then i might just plump for one of there's still. |

Ghost that helmet looks fantastic. Are these helmets still available or is the run closed? |
