This one?

Looks like they kept the "fairly symmetrical" approach to it.

To be honest I don't rate it at all. It is totally inaccurate and there are so many better fan made products around.

Yeah. Since the original hero was laser scanned. I'm surprised they don't just use that for this one. The heroes always had a better shape. It's weird how everything official seems to rally towards the symmetrical and lifeless mechanical.

That's why there's basically nothing interesting about the Clone helmets... they just look like detailed buckets and not protective helmets.

sanitised shite! Like pretty much all liscenced products.
The whole beauty of the originals is the asymetry/wonkiness. IMO.

Apart from the frown it looks to be identical to the ANH CE version.

It's just such a waste. Injection molding is expensive as damn shit, as I believe it requires metal molds to be made. I don't understand why they waste all those money on an inaccurate piece when they could do a 100% accurate one as a one-piece helmet. They are walking the Rubies path they walked with their Supreme helmet. Best damn material - lightweight and sturdy - but damn ugly and inaccurate piece.

Agreed with the criticisms posted here...on top of that considering the gazillions that LFL forks out for legal fees to defend its copyright and then its prime licensee doesn't even use the original work of Liz Moore and instead makes another toy TK helmet.... :ac10 Honestly what's the point...

They attach so much attention and pride to the accuracy of the McQuarrie Vader, why not do the same for a stormtrooper helmet? Lame.

Is it only me , or is the lizened stuff of LFL more and more crap.
MR CE helmet, crap. Rubies supreme, crap, sideshow bust (Vader, Boba Fett) crap.

Why they not make the real deal for this money they want for it?
It's risible to want stop the unlizended stuff with this products.

Why i should pay 190 USD for a EFX "CE" or a MR CE helmet or nearly 1000 USD for a inaccuarte Vader bust, if i could buy fanmade stuff wich is 1000 x better?

The majority of buyers wants something that looks nice, shiny and symmetrical. They're not interested in something screen accurate that looks like crap. We (the purists) have learned to appreciate that crappy look, but we're considered too small a market to be profitable.

That's only because the companies keeps shilling out idealized symmetrical product with the label attached to it saying: accurate and from screen used.

When the general public is being misled like that... well... what do you expect.

If the companies had just made the accurate stuff to begin with and stop mislabeling things... things wouldn't be so confusing.

And if they really wanted to do a nice idealized symmetrical product... they should scan an original, flip the 3d file and merge it with the regular version and have the computer calculate the average. until then... they are just cutting corners.

Post subject:  Re: Views on the new E-FX stormtrooper lid

Guys, I'm probably re-stating whats already been said but the new E-FX helmets (standard ESB and Shadow Trooper) are simply the same Master Replicas CE/Cheapo helmets with a few tweaks (black frown, slightly revised ears, all black for the "shadow" version, etc.).

Hence they still have exactly the same limitations of the MR versions (split across frown etc.), but as a "cheap" knock about licensed helmet I'm sure there'll be a lot of fun.

I would have thought that efx noticed the freakingly craaaaaazy prices the cheapo MR's were going for on ebay and thouht to themselves "makes sense we do a run". Who'd blam 'em!

Cheers

Jez
