I know I posted these bust in one of my other topics in this section, but here they are again... on their own, to show which I have so far.

Gentle Giant busts:

The reason for this post is because I have recently placed a very significant pre-order on three GG items:

(Yeah... I know... that last one... well... what can I say... I'm a fan!) :thumbsup

Yes, I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to receiving them. Am also interested in the new ANH Obi-Wan.

Really wish they would make a ANH Tantive IV Vader bust or statue... that would be a definite hit with me! :thumbsup

Just sent this mail to Gentle Giant LTD! :lol

Hello,

I have been admiring and purchasing some of your great busts and statues over the last few years - growing collection, though still small - and I was just wondering whether you'd ever plan or consider doing an ep4 - A New Hope - Darth Vader mini bust or statue (preferably the Tantive 4 look, as seen at the beginning of the movie). Am really crossing my fingers for such a version, as the A New Hope version has always been my favorite.

If you do it and make it accurate, then you've got a secured sale with me! .)

Cheers and keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
Carsten Hedegaard

You guys should do the same... write them about an accurate ANH Vader! :thumbsup

Good idea, but i would prefer a statue. I've started with Gentle Giant a few months ago. I have the Chrome Vader, the Luke on Taun Taun, the C-3 PO, the Boba Fett and i've preordered the mos eisley cantina bookend and the Rancor which is looking really awesome i think. They make excellent items to collect,

Haven't heard back from them yet. Man... in the beginning they only took less than a week to answer a mail from me... now they just don't reply anymore... and it's not as if I send them lots of mails or ask stupid questions. Though... I hope that I have sparked them to do the ANH Vader. :lol

Still haven't heard back from them. I guess they don't intend to answer my queries... hmm... :grumpy

Nice busts.

I myself just got into these finally. I have the Sandtrooper sergeant, Palpatine, ROTS Vader, the white Clone, 501st clone,
with Shocktrooper clone and Sandtrooper squad leader on the way, Maul, Grievous, Grey Clone trooper, and Jango pre-ordered (as well as two of the Lord of the Rings mini busts).
Statue-wise I have Darth Maul, with the Royal Guard pre-ordered.
I also have a couple of the Animate Maquettes. No pictures of any of this stuff yet.
If you like Jango at all, you need to get that bust, it looks amazing - photo courtesy of Rebelscum

Great pics of the Jango Fett bust. I must say, one of the best busts i've ever seen. Great details. :thumbsup

Cool bust... but what's with the chrome effect? And what's that grey Fett bust seen in the background?

Come on guys... let's all lobby for an ANH Vader statue... that'd be so great - I would still prefer a model kit I had to assemble and paint myself, but a GG statue would definitely be worth getting, if they could do it right! :thumbsup

The chrome effect is to make it all shiny and pretty. That's actually why I really like it. The grey one in the background I assume is a prototype or an unpainted version of the bust.

Tell me, in what way would an ANH Vader statue be different then the Vader statue GG already has released?

An ANH vader would be great, but for me, he should be fully painted, because of my two left hands. :pale

Oh... where to begin... :lol

Well, the one currently out is a bastard Vader, understood in that way that it is not from any one movie, but with pieces from all, but is mostly a RotS/RotJ combo figure with a stupid pose and crappy flowing cape - much like the RotS promo pictures.

One thing is the helmet - the ANH helmet is the meanest looking of them all with its lower dome, crap-tacular paint job and over-all roughness of the suit and armor. The best way to describe the ANH Vader is: battle-worn! :thumbsup

The Marmit ANH Vader is the only ANH Vader figure out there... and it wasn't even released - the 1:4 scale sideshow Vader doesn't even reach it in terms of look and over-all accuracy. If only LFL would stop messing with the companies and demanding them to make stuff less accurate... then we'd definitely have the most extremely cool looking and accurate Vader if GG really put an effort into it.

Basically... the helmet sculpt on the current GG busts and statue is sub-standard and is deliberately altered, softened, etc. Really odd that Vader has these issues with accuracy when pretty much all the other busts are as close to original as possible - or am I misinformed here... does this interfering happen with all the stuff, making it less accurate?

There are so many things different with the ANH Vader compared to the others... and it's a damn shame Lucas doesn't appreciate that version more as it is definitely a fan-favorite at the same level as the ESB version. Oddly enough Lucas prefers the RotJ version... and that can be seen in every decision LFL makes regarding Vader - even the supposed ESB Vader busts sports an RotJ helmet... and parts of the face is flipped.

I really cannot figure out why these alterations are made to Vader figures and statues... it doesn't make sense except that it possibly related to LFLs fear of the original look getting out and their love for the symmetrical... I guess. Still odd.

Here's me crossing fingers that GG will do it and be allowed to do it right! :thumbsup
