What do we know? There were Hero Studio Helmets, these had chin straps and hard hat liners, rounded frowns, bubble lenses and larger possibly machined mic tips. There were Background Studio Helmets, these had recast ANH/ESB mic tips, bubble lenses, squared off frowns, petal shaped foam liners. There were Location Hero Helmets, which appear very similar to the Studio Hero Helmets and there were Location Background Helmets with flat green lenses. If you have any information or amendments please post. Joe |

Seeing something I never knew, the ROTJ had a entire sticker for the tube vents. Interesting. Not sharing anything earth shattering, just shots from an exhibit. |

Awesome post Joe! I love the ROTJ helmet. It is so quirky compared to the ANH and ESB. It has its own personality. When I had my ROTJ suit back 8 years ago I did the helmet up in the Location Hero style. It was funny how many people hated the ROTJ back then and even tried telling me that ROTJ never had flat lenses and they all had canisters on the belt, which mine lacked. I could have argued the point till I was blue and no one even considered it. Back then everyone was so in love with the fx armor it didnt matter anyway. At any rate, it is great to see another ROTJ trooper enthusiast. |

Anything to get away from these Vader threads! Thanks for the comments guys. Here's the three known background studio helmets, all in the UK I'm glad to say. Mine is the one on the left, note the shot is pre-restoration Also note that you can barely see out of these bubble lenses, I imagine that they would have been used for static shots, mine was used in the Deathstar scenes. |

Forgot to mention, Jason Joiner said to me that he has a 3 piece ROTJ helmet. This is news to me. Although I take anything that man says with a pinch of salt. Joe |

Good stuff! So when will there be a helmet made from one of these? Doug |

There already has been Doug, the second one down from the top was the master for the TE ROTJ. Joe |

Doug I sold mine, I know one member on here has one. Here's some more pictures of mine, pre-restoration, these have never been shown on the web, so are a Prop Den exclusive! Joe |

Great thread! Some of the ROTJ helmets were simply glued together, while others riveted and to me, it looks like there were two moulds for the helmets. I've noticed that some helmets seem much more like ANH/ESB in appearance, while others look like are squashed in from the sides and have resculpted ear caps. Loving those BTS pics of the SE trooper...really cool! |
