GZ that third Stormtrooper bucket on the top row on the right hand side looks sweet with the weathered creamy colour, reminds me of the move along helmet. What did you paint it with? Joe |

Joe I believe it was rustolium white or dove white. and the weathering is acrylic paints. Everyone swears by fullers earth.. But there is so much more you can do with acrylic paints it you play your cards right |

Well today was a big day for me.This is a piece I have been looking for pretty much since I have been collecting and have found almost impossible to find and at last I got one. This is a screen-used canopy from a pyro TIE fighter from ANH: There remains glue residue and burn marks from the pyrotechnics used on the underside of the piece. There are so very few pieces of TIE fighters out there and so few model pieces that this has been a real find and a total thrill to get.I trailed through all the explosions of TIEs in ANH and there is little detail to be found so it is pretty near impossible to match. However when looking through the documentary "Empire of Dreams" which is on the bonus disc of the 2004 DVD set there are a lot of shots of the ILM guys blowing the models in front of the blue screens. Now obviously I cannot say for certain that this is the exact piece however through all the explosions shown this is the only time where you can see the cockpit canopy blow straight off the top: Going frame by frame you can really clearly see the canopy come off.Even if this isnt the exact piece it does show exactly how this piece would have looked coming off. This marks the end of a very long search for me and will look killer alongside my pieces of X-Wing and piece of the death star surface.A good shot of a TIE chasing an X-Wing over the death star for good measure: Very pleased today! :D |
