Bryan at MR kindly sent me the second and probably final Stormtrooper prototype for review. With a few paint detailing aside this will the helmet that will go into production in a few weeks. I am impressed! Key changes are the frown and teeth, which are MUCH better defined, and the ears that are now separate (woo hoo), and also more accurate A shot from the rear for those fettled tumblehome fans  its been sharpened up in a numbver of places including thr vocoder and also around the trapezoids, where the detaiing is now much nicer, with more curved upper edges. Here's a comparison against proto 1 (left) so you can see the improved mouth... ...and ears (new version on the right)... There's a few small details they need to work out, such as the painting but IMO this is going to be a superb helmet Again thanks to MR for sending me this helmet, and before anyone asks NO I wont be keeping this one as it'll be shown off at SDCC. I'm sending it back 4,000 miles this week. More pics on my site in the MR/Stormtrooper section Cheers Jez |

Now they should drop the price to about 250,- and I could be tempted ... |

The difference seen between the two helmets... is miles apart, imo. I can't put my finger on the differences... but the new one just looks more right. Would definitely be tempted by this new one... though... the price is a bit much for me for a long time ahead. |

I've suggested they soften the ear detailing a little more. But bar this and a couple of last minute paint changes (the ones they used in the helmet sent to me were a little too dark on the mouth and tubes) then this is the final version. Cheers Jez |

The holes in the frown are a little too large IMO |

I slowly tend to believe guys like "us" are the reason that MR dropped the ball on this license ... you can only take so many anal retentive accuracy comments before you want to go berserk ... |

If they don't want anal retentive, they should have gone idealized symmetrical! |

That's the problem with those companies - they have NO CLOU how well educated and how accuracy fixated a part of their Target Audience is on the stuff they want to sell - it must give them nightmares I believe we would need a company that would have the balls to just make a deal with LFL that they get access to the Archives, take 100 percent accurate molds off the originals and then produce and paint them as shitty as the originals were done in the past ... we would be in prop heaven for a few months and that company would go bankrupt because they only sold about 50 to 100 units of each item ... |

AFAIK MR did have access to an original. But lets face it; the majority of buyers don't want these helmets to be screen accurate. |
