Yeah... the left one looks softer in detail. Is that correct?

I suppose you mean my left one. Yes, the left one is a little softer in detail.

*EDIT* Maybe you could take some pics, so we can compare them side by side.

So is this going to be painted à la ANH? ie standard trooper helmet or are you going to try to replicate the SFS helmet???

Still waiting for mine to arrive from Australia, and then will be doing comp pics.

:thumbsup

I'll try my best to replicate the SFS helmet. I feel it's the only way this helmet can be painted to really show it justice.

Though... I'm a bit lazy... anybody got a link to good reference material of the SFS? The prop today can only be more nicked and peeled than it was during filming, right... so I'll try and do screen-accurate.

The HDPE color is a palish green right? Anyone having matched paint colors to that color and know what brand and number I need to get... or should I just go for a palish khaki green?

The link posted by AJCG is the only reference source I know of.

I have to work on the right ear, fill up the hole between the ear and the face at the tube, as it has been cut wrong compared to the SFS helmet ears. Really hope that what I bought is as good as that AquaMend.

Pretty weird why he'd make such a big gap between ear and face. The HDPE test shot helmet certainly didn't have that. It really looks like the ear was trimmed a little too much at the front...

You think I should write TE about it?

Are those two pictures from the same ear?

Cheers

Yes... that's the same ear... from the front. It is perfect at the back, not much of a gap there... also not on the left ear (when looking at it from the front). I think I can fix it easily by gluing on a styrene strip and then fill the seam. Seems to be the best way to fix this... and it won't matter, as long as the seam isn't visible, since the helmet is going to be painted anyway. So I guess it's no big deal. Was just a bit shocked when I noticed it this morning.
