These are not the real actors. They're wax!

They sometimes do, but they also have the actor pose for them - or work from photos if the actor isn't available to sit for them. I believe that for the most part they use body doubles for the body work, but that could have changed since I visited in '93. They had a fine little educational video running showing how they did the sculpts.

Their work has tremendously improved since I was there, but their quality of work was always top notch - just had a problem with slightly bit too shiny skin tones on some of the figures then.

Cool pics. I´ve seen the life in Amsterdam. Sparrow didn´t look very real to me in person. I´ve seen a lot better sculpst. Since I´ve been a professional sculptor since 1995 i was also in contact with Mme Tussauds. As they told me there, they sculpted every portrait, but the have measures of nearly every facial distance in a huge list over four sites. They work very technical and precise. They have to take care more about the livin fire in their faces from my point of view, than of measurements. Mme Tussaud was the first famous person with attachment to life likeness. So everybody who´s very talented in sculpting will sadly hear the word: you can go to Mme Tussauds! Instead of: you are a great individual artist...:-( I often was frustrated about sentences like that in the past)...Kind regards, Jörg
