Well, I've been looking for ways to reduce weight and material use on my sculpts (meaning the expensive apoxie sculpt) and this seems like a very good option to try out. Certainly makes the basic shape strong and sturdy.
Do you have other works you can show off. The level of sculpting detail on these sculpts are pretty damn good, so it could be interesting to see what other stuff you've done.
Apoxie sculpt is great if you can work fast and don't want to have to cast your sculpt. I use it to build armatures over the wire when I sculpt with Sculpey.
I have not done many sculptures but here are a few:
A foal I built pit of wire, plaster bandage and fiberglass when I was in highschool (I am 48 now):

My brother is a professional artist and sculptor (working mostly in bronze) and will likely be finishing up these tauntaun sculpts with fur and skin texturing and doing the castings.
