Hey evereryone I just wanted to post My 3rd Sculpting project since
I've began Sculpting.. I've been tied up with other things, so I haven't
had a chance to work on him like I want too, so please excuse the fact
that he has a long way to go. I mostly sculpted everything in a week,
but like I said I have a lot of detail work to go.. He's almost 1:1:, Almost lol :D

I've run into a jam and was wondering if some of you could help me make
a decision.. I'm at a point where I'm either gonna Sculpt the Hair or use
synthetic hair to put on the finished casting once complete..

First: What do you think I should do for the hair
Sculpted Or Synthetic
Second: if you think Synthetic, where might I get it?

Thanks in advance to all that can help
I guess I'll keep this a work in progress thread
I just hope it doesn't take me too long to finish lol :D

The Second Picture is just a little PS fun to see what
he would look like with hair and Eyes..

Wow! That looks amazing! :eek

I think it would be really neat to use synthetic hair but I’m sure that will be somewhat of a hassle. I wouldn’t know what to get any though I’m sure someone else here would know. What was that company they used for the Chewbacca hair? I thought I read it was still around.

Sculpt look great so far! :thumbsup

That's a really tough decision on the hair. I've seen some pretty bad synthetic hair jobs that really take away from a sculpt. Then again, if done right, it could look awesome! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Have no idea where you could get synthetic hair if you were to go that route. I remember seeing craft stores sell doll hair... maybe ebay? don't know if that helps?

If you hadn't said anything about it being a computer model, I would have assumed it was made out of Sculpey! :thumbsup

What software are you using?

Oh, and go with actual hair, rather than sculpted hair. I've seen truly excellent sculpts on RPF, but the level of realism ends up lacking with the sculpted hair look.

Mac, That is Super Sculpey! lol :) My Urko is a Clay Sculpt not a computer generated Image..
Now the Second picture is the same as the first, but I ran it through PS and added Hair, Eyes,
and some color.. Thanks for the advice, I'm starting to lean more toward real hair, I'll just clean
up the area a little where the hair will go and just finish off all the wrinkles and small details..
Thanks :cheers
I'm still trying to find a good place to get realistic looking Monkey hair..

That looks like the one that was in Modeler's Resource Magazine a few years back.

Has a great tutorial on how it was made.

Yeah, that does look like the same one..
Nice going Clutch, I think you did a fantastic Job..
I know I don't know you well, so I was wondering?
Did you sculpt the whole thing, and how long have you
been Sculpting?
Really Great Work, and thanks for posting

If anyone else has a POTA project please post away
I don't mind. It actually gives me some ideas for
a finished look..

DN, maybe it's because I wrote the article. hehe!

Doug, one of my friends produced it. I just finished a resin casting of it.
