yep! the title says it all!!!! i have decided to start on the project ive been planning for months, an ANH reveal vader helmet. what sparked this? my beloved SPFX cracked in the heat sunday. the crack is about 6 inches from the base of the neck to the lower tusk tube. wierd, right? ive never dropped it, and he always sits on a helmet stand in the house. never left in the car. so.... being damaged, i figured i had nothing to loose now. this evening i seperated the upper and lower parts of the helmet. what a pain!!!! hope to have the gaps filled and the mounting system tested by sunday. time will tell....

What are the holes on the side of the face? are they the original mounting system?

thanks guys. i cut the two holes up top to mount 2 2inch cooling fans in. they worked out very well. as for the paint, that was my touch up repaint a while back. didnt use the right silver, i know, i know. the re-conditioned helmet will be correct again. that cape chain destroys the finish on the neck. i finished re-inforcing the face plate tonight and will finish filling in those holes i punched in it. i will then add all 6 vent holes in it sunday and focus on filling the gaps again. atleast that is the plan!

No worries - just was wondering about and that's why i'm ask

well, i managed to work out a neat trade. i traded a set of old stunt armor that didnt fit me correctly for a 20th century fox faceplate casting and some reveal parts. the casting is resin, so i know it isnt a real one, however, everything about it looks dead on. so, i have done one layer of fiberglass cloth to the inside of the face to re-inforce it. only layed up small sections to prevent warpage. i must say, that face plate sitting next to my SPFX, they look close to one another. not sure id call them twins, but very close. i will post photos once the glass fully cures.

yes, the lenses are from my SPFX v2 anh vader as well. yes they are reddish, and i will fix this shortly. just need the helmet together for an upcomming event.
