I did my duty as a Star Wars fan and made the pilgrimage to the Holy Land this past week (aka Tunisia) to see the Lars homestead (even though what's there now isn't the original). I was staying with a friend in Tunis and was going to take a flight to Tozeur, which is near the location of the Lars homestead. From there, I would have hired a car and driver to take me over to Luke's house, then maybe visit the nearby Mos Espa set (not as important to me), spend the rest of the day in Tozeur, and then take an overnight train back to Tunis.
But I was stupid and didn't make the flight… for a really, really stupid reason… and I will be kicking myself for a long time over this… Oh well… (at least it was a really cheap flight)
Although it might have been for the best as terrorists just killed 14 Tunisian soldiers in these mountains near Tozeur this past week.
At least I had a nice few days in Tunis.
I'll definitely be going back to Tunisia someday though, and for several non-star wars related reasons as well. Really enjoyed my brief time there.
