Stormtrooper armor ABS or Painted?

Was the armor in ANH ABS or painted? Same goes for ESB, ABS or painted?

I always thought it was white ABS or styrene. I think the helmets... or the first set of helmets for ANH were tan HDPE (or whatever) painted white...

The hero helmets are ABS and the stunts are painted HDPE. Kind of unclear on the armor.

The armor was made in white plastic. You can see the sheets behind AA in those pictures with the helmets.

I think they were left alone... even the ones that went with the HDPE helmets. Though, it would make sense to paint those so they matched the helmets... but i don't think they did. I've seen mis-matched shades (and parts) on the ANH troopers... and the white tape, etc. i think they just figured 'good enough'.

Well i think Paul ( TM) can tell here more about this , but all as i know/read there were unpainted but also painted suits in AnH.
As i think only the ESB suits were all painted.

The armors were made of unpainted ABS same as the hero stormtropers helmets. THe only helmets spray painted were the stunts(HDPE)

Where you got this info about the unpainted armors?
Any one confirmed this for sure ?

TE handled real ANH armor at the archives and the one he handled sure didn't look painted.

Ok but that not meens that all AnH armors were unpainted.
Also it not meens that the ESB armors were unpainted ,too. :wink:

You can only go by what you know and so far ANH armor is unpainted.

Thanks for the info guys. From watching the movies over and over again seems like the ANH are not painted and ESB are painted.

I used to think the trooper armour was painted but now I am now so sure. The ones in the archives look like could have been painted. But, that does't mean they were all painted originally. The ones in the archives have probably been used several times for one thing or another, so could quite easily have been resprayed to bring them 'back to life'.

I honestly don`t believe they were painted for ANH.I mean from a logical standpoint why would they bother?It would be a waste of time and money on a production that was already stretched.The only reason they painted the helmets was because they were a khaki HDPE material.

After ANH is definetly more logical though as it would eliminate any yellowing showing.So the existing armor could quite possibly be painted.

Thats my thoughts anyway.
