The belt is approximately 2'' wide if you scale it off the greeblie and made of leather around 3mm thick. I did at one point genuinely believe it was 2.25'' but it is definitely not that wide. If it helps at all the grooves are not the same distance from the edge on these or the officer belts I have decent pics of and in some cases do not appear to run parallel to the edge of the belt. I'll get some illustrations up to show what I mean as soon as possible.

A question to the expert
Found to belt suppliers on JRS....Bones and Vaderdave...who offers the more accurate belt? Would like to order soon to complete my Tie softparts.
Lol, if you're talking about me I wouldn't say that. I just like looking at the pictures.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other with the belts. Both are drum dyed which I don't believe any of the originals were. VaderDave's has the grooves that the Bones one doesn't but VaderDave's also has an inaccurate bevelled edge for costuming longevity whereas Bones' doesn't.
Personally I'm making my own using a groover and some dye just waiting for the leather to arrive as I forgot to adjust the guide on the groover when I did the second groove on my first attempt.
I have made some progress though and got the 1982/ROTJ ear greeblies finished for the timebeing. I may need to change the doorclips on them as the edges on mine appear too straight compared with the reference pic.
