That's one heck of a difference in size. I also like how the RS Props has the face mask angled with the flight helmet. And the grey color they are using is also better - more muted.

All in all both very nice helmets, but I prefer the RS Props.

Thanks for posting the pics.

The greeblies are exactly correct on the RS helmets and what a difference it makes to the look.

I presume Dan Laws sculpted the mohawk trident as it is nothing like a screen helmet.

I also do not like the area on the Laws where the 2 forehead greeblies sit - although to be fair every TIE helmet maker has always gotten this wrong up until RS. It should be cut out with a rectangular piece of plastic in the gap - like the screen helmets.

The cut at the back angle on the RS mohawk stripe is absolutely the same as the screen helmets.

The Laws is a nice helmet but it is a bit too glossy looking and idealised for my liking. I like the fact RS used ABS and not high gloss ABS plastic.

Lovely helmets both the RS and the Laws and thanks again for sharing the photos.

Agreed, the RS Tie looks pretty much spot on. :thumbsup

As for the rectangular piece, I'm not 100% convinced. Maybe it's my poor eyesight :lol but is this what you are referring to Chris?

Hi,

Yes 100% the rectangle I mean.

The other helmet makers in the past have either extended the faceplate up higher to cover this gap OR left plastic in between the trident instead of cutting it out. Screen helmets have the rectangle filling the gap - same as what RS have done.

As written on the JRS.

Got my stuff from them yesterday.
I have number 8/100.

I have to say the overall look is really great and nailed the look of the original.

But it's really a prop not really something for trooping.
The hoses have the right look but they are not flexible and very strong.
You also can not see something through the lenses. Not even what is 1m in front of you.
But those are the first kind of bubble lenses which are exact as on the screen used Tie's.
Also mounted as on the screen used.

Also the feel of the stuff is like the real prop stuff.
It has paint and glue runs,it's very rough trimmed, it has scratches and scuffs so it's not as clean as you may know it from Laws or Moncal.
So that's may nothing for guys which like glossy and shiny costume stuff.

I am sure the original screen TIE pilots hoses are full of expanding foam to keep their shape in keep them from coming out the chest boxes.

I am also sure Jez from starwarshelmets.com said that seeing through the bubble lenses on the TIE / ATAT screen helmets was really hard.

Must have been torture being one of the actors having to wear one of these on the film set :)

Did any other guys here receive their helmets from RS Props? Dude these helmets are totally scratched and with a lot of dulled areas on the ABS plastic. Also glue remarks. I doubt this was intended this way. Looks more like a rush job to get the helmets done. Not sure what to think about. The parts itself looking great but the way the worked with the material is .......

I found mine just as "used" as it should be
No glue remarks or important scratches
I wanted a prop replica and that's exactly what I received.
A masterpiece imo

I guess that the RS team make their helmets just like the same way the screen used props were made.

DL is perfect for a "trophy" helmet. The clean and "sanitized" look of a licenced prop (I mean, very shap and smooth look) with the shape of an original.

RSprop, is the "real" deal. Too way off thinking a prop, but two impressive helmets!! (and incredible works and hours spent to bring us some nice replcias!!)

I like the RS TIE, I like its wonkiness and roughness, I like the COA and Richard Bonehill autograph (I already have a few items signed by him though), I have the money for it, but I simply cannot pull the trigger on one. Maybe one day a Hero faceplate will come and then I'll get it. But not now.
