Hey everyone, I recently had the honor of working on a raw TM cast and finish it as close to the prop seen in some hero shots to the film.
I removed some of the lumps, restored the right cheek and filled the gaps on the neck extension. My little boy helped me with the sanding! :D
I first applied some primer and sprayed the whole mask with a few coats of Black Glossy Rustoleum.
After that, I masked the blacks and used Duplicolor Storm Gray.
For the dome, I switched to Duplicolor Universal Black. That paint helped me to easily achieve a wet, even look to the whole thing.
Tusks, grills and lenses rounded the whole package. And I gave the dome a hard buffing by hand to add a little extra shine.
Here is the finished piece, mounted on my Quasimodo armor.
I really loved this project! Couldn't have done it with the encouragement and support of the Vader community.
It was a little bittersweet to decide which lineage details to remove and which ones to preserve, but I find comfort in the fact that I gave it my best to honor this beautiful raw cast.
