I dug around multiple forums, but couldn't find anything soooo

I was wondering how many of the Tie Pilot helmets made for ANH still survived/were accounted for.

What we know:

14 helmets made originally

4 converted into At-At helmets

7 original helmets known (?)

So if that's accurate, there are still 3 helmets possibly out there.

Does that sound right?

The only thing I would note is that there was only 2 converted to AT-AT drivers, instead of 4. The additional drivers we see on screen was just the same two helmet with added decals to the back of them to give the impression that there were more of them.

So to update:

14 helmets made originally

2 converted into At-At helmets

8 original helmets known (?)

So if that's accurate, there are still 4 helmets possibly out there.

Any chance to "list" those 8 known helmets please? In order to know if we have the same in mind.

Good idea..Lets see if we can give them names that make sense:

1-silver trident hero
2-teardrop hero
3-LFL tour helmet
4-Green lenses
5-Anson (SW helmets ruler measurements pics)
6-Compad back
7-unfinished (no lenses)
8-glossy SW helmets ( this is the one with the 3D view on star wars helmets)

I heard that the grey tube hero helmet was re-painted back to all black for ROTJ, but no hard evidence. SO maybe this guy is still out there:

Cool topic. Always thought the TIE helmets looked awesome. Hope we can get some pictures up of the different helmets. :)

UPDATE:

Another original Tie not accounted for in my original post so-

So if the grey tube hero tie from ANH was repainted black and still owned by LFL (which is what seems to have happened:

So to update:

14 helmets made originally

12 delivered to production company (from Starwars helmets .com: " Of the 14 made for the movie it seems that the studio were only invoiced for 12 leaving 2 over for Ainsworth and John Mollo. "

2 converted into At-At helmets

12 original helmets known :

1-silver trident hero
2-teardrop hero
3-LFL tour helmet
4-Green lenses
5-Anson (SW helmets ruler measurements pics)
6-Compad back
7-unfinished (no lenses)
8-glossy SW helmets ( this is the one with the 3D view on star wars helmets)
9-Silver tube hero now black at LFL
10-Propstore auction
11-Andrew Ainswoth
12-John Mollo

So if that's accurate, that accounts for all Tie helmets.

As for pictures I posed a collage above of the ones I can find pics of. No pic of the repainted LFL one as of yet ( although I have heard they have two touring suit displays so that would be on one of them). Since Photobucket went to crap I don't know how to post pics other than as attachments.

I guess that you can add Arnaud Grunberg's TIE helmet. That you can see on his book "Star Wars Les objets du Mythe".

These things are everywhere! :lol

The lenseless one you posted (in the pic collage) seemed to me, legit yet not made for production. I’m sure there are way more than 14 out there. Grunberg’s is made for production for sure.

There's also Stripes, the hero helmet owned by Steven Lane.

Ah ok! I didn't realise #2 referred to the striped one (Antiques Roadshow).

What's specific about the teardrops on this one though? they're not silver if that's what you meant?

They refer to the stripes as teardrops in 501st land..that’s where I picked it up but I guess that is somewhat confusing
