A few days ago I stumbled across this photo.

Image

It's completely new to me and the moment I saw it I knew this is something special. It's the only pic (I know of) to have both ANH/ESB and RotJ armor in it and the helmet the trooper on the right is wearing, appears to be an ESB Mark II RotJ helmet.

I would be very interested to know what you guys think.

The one on the left has a blaster hole repair on the chest.

But yes, definitely the RotJ style type of armor on the right. In another picture you can actually see that there are two wearing that style of armor.

Very nice picture.

This is AWESOME!!!

It's great when rare photos like this show up. No doubt it was taken at the same time as the one Stefan has shown. The ESB trooper with missing mic tips, hands behind back hiding the fact he is wearing no gloves and the ESB MKII trooper has the spot on his vocoder where the paint has chipped.

The MKII looks like he might be wearing ANH latex hand plates in the second photo? Hard to tell, but they don't look like ESB clam shell type.

Thanks for sharing Leo :thumbsup

Awsome pic.I`ve never seen that before.

I`ve been thinking that the MKII helmets/armor were mainly made for promo stuff. These pics are from ESB promo meets are they not. What if the new armor was made while ESB was filming and maybe one got on set and the rest were used for promos. There`s pics on getty images of ESB promo stuff with vader and troopers and the troopers look like the one above. Then for ROTJ they cast one of those promo suits like Troopermaster says.

Anyway nice pic.

This is really interesting, thanks for posting. As you guys know I did a lot of work a couple of years back to try and nail down what these MK2's were - even visited John Mollo and the two of us went through his Art Books/Diaries to try and track them down.

Even after that I still dont know whether it was just bits and pieces, or complete armour. We also couldnt determine whether helmets were included or not

THere must be a high res version of that photo somewhere, if anyone has it I would really appreciate a copy as Im still keen to resolve this issue. BTW Im pretty sure the photo was taken on May 19th/20th 1980 in London just before the premiere which I attended. The 2 stormtroopers were also at the premiere although I dont have pics (although to be fair they would be crap anyway since my camera then was one of those old cheapo ones)

Cheers

Jez

correct Jez. These are from the "EMPIRE DAY" photocall in Soho Square, london.
Lots of Jeeps with Empire decals racing around with troopers in.
