Hi guys,

I thought you would like to see what I have been up to this week.

I have been making Indiana Jones Golden idols for here and a couple of other forums and whilst I was at the Vac Metalizing company that did the original Idols and C3P0 coincidentally I thought why not get a TK lid chromed!

Well it's not completely finished yet but you get the idea.... I haven't decided yet about decals.... What colour etc??? Or none at all??

What do you reckon?

Just fantastic! In my experience of putting vinyl on chromed plastics for signage/livery, when the weather heats up and the vinyl shrinks a little it will pull the chrome off. So I was thinking, to avoid actually sticking something on the surface, how about them magnets? It looks like there's not enough room to lay the decals down as normal - but what if you raised them several mm to sit almost flush and used felt covered magnets to secure them. Would avoid scratching that luscious shine too.

Colour the raised edges black and that would reflect in the chrome to give the decal look. Maybe paint the decals a darker metal, so keeping a full metal feel to it?

Ha ha. nice idea but this is vac metalized ABS plastic. Magnets would not stick to it. This is the same process used for the Golden idols in iIndiana Jones etc......

Ah yea, you would have to stick a magnet on the inside, then you could take them off etc. Does look great as it is though!!

I get ya.

Yeah, brass, gold or copper might look great.
I'll get down the art shop and have a play.
