Yes you are correct, I have just looked at that, definately no Y crease indent and looking at other details this is ROTJ. They need to change that. I hate making mistakes, good spot.

LOL...Yes, my dome expertise has taken a knock

Nah, I only ever looked at the pics properly once you said TBH.

Many are under the same assumption this is ESB, on closer examination it clearly isn't.

Closer? I took one look...

However, I have been proven wrong before about ESB and RotJ domes... but the very clearly missing y-crease detail + the thin flange rim on this one made me think RotJ.

Guys how can it be a ROTJ dome if it came from someone who worked on ESB? Desi is not one to make mistakes like this...

Or, if we entertain the notion that the ESB's were carried over to RotJ... then possibly the look of this one became to basis for the look of the RotJ helmets, just as well as a specific ESB trooper became the basis for the RotJ troopers.

Perhaps this could be split from the TM thread?

I have 2 helmets that are unaccounted for ESB with my research, so I definately think the basis for the ROTJ domes were originally from ESB. However there are clear differences between the two, even though I missed it today, ha.

Interesting points, I will contact Desi and see if he is willing to share a little more information on the history of the dome.

Yes the center ridge does seem more like ROTJ...but the shape of the flaring is more like ESB. Too bad there's no view looking up from below so I could see the flaring edge better...it could be a fighting helmet from ROTJ just as easily as from ESB...but on the ESB dome the Y-crease is more like a pushed in thumb...its softer and not so pronouned but this dome doesn't even have the indentation...which is more like ROTJ...
