I was looking on ebay and saw a new user offering stormtrooper helmets. Looks like a recast of the Christies helmet or one with a plate on the back of the helmet, although the other helmet for auction doesn't have this marking.

So it this being sold by anyone we know?

Something weird going on there. :rolleyes

Looks like it might derive from an AP/GF but I'll let the experts have their say.

The link doesn't work for me. Only leads to an error message.

It's in the 501st only section. You have to be registered and have 501st access.

Well, that's not good for most people. Please only post links to publicly accessible threads. Thanks.

My mistake, I didn't even realize it was in the 501st only section till you said something about the broken link.

The short of it was a new guy asked about mold making and vac forming. It later came out that he wanted to recast an accurate helmet he had and sell copies. He got "informed" about recasting and claimed he decided to sculpt a helmet from scratch. Although he later admits that his armor parts a based on/modified FX.

Although he only posted the initial info request a little over a week ago. The guy on ebay sold a complete kit over a week ago, and the parts look closer to an AP.

I just noticed that sale myself today...something real familiar looking about those lids...can't put my finger on it, but I'm no expert either.

That is one 'rough' helmet. My guess it is TK5624 who is making these helmets as he was asking all kinds of questions on the FISD about recasting. He said somethng about only casting the ears which were a weak pull and sharpening them up, but in an earlier post, he said "I'll be making these helmets". I don't have access to 501st boards so can anyone confirm my suspiscions?

The reason I don't think it was 5624 was he admitted that his armor parts a based on/modified FX, and he was asking questions about making molds after this seller had already started selling.

But I could be wrong, or he was looking to improve his molds.

He bought a suit from me back in 2006, right before I quit making suits. He is in the San Diego area. He is a recaster and his work is atrocious.

Buyer beware.. that is about on par with a meatsock helmet.

No clue how to make one...
