Hi,

I thought it was about time to finish or at least start my Mini SFS Trooper helmet.
I got this from the first run Carsten did a while back.

Anyhoo, I wasn't really happy that the helmet came filled with expanded foam as I wanted to make a mini replica with green flat lenses and a piece of star foam etc as per the original used helmets.

I managed to hollow out the foam then spent the afternoon today sanding the inside as it was quite thick resin and as I am cutting the eyes out I wanted it to be more like it was vac formed than cast.I also cut the teeth out which was a bit scary and I used a very small drill bit and a file.....

So without further ado here's where I'm at so far......

I still have a way to go yet and after priming I can see the bubbles that need to be filled better.....:D

Excellent idea!

I've done similar mods to marmits, but this SFS helmet way cooler!

Looks awesome. Can't wait to see more. That really is one detailed little helmet. Nice.

A thought could be to try and replace the ear screw with real ones!?

Funny you should say that I just received some screws this morning but they are phillips head not flat head screws. I may just fill the head with filler and file the flat head in?..... They are the right size and should be long enough to poke through the inside and attach the green gel lens.....

Looking forward to the finished product!

Man it'd be cool to see this size done in thin vac formed plastic. Somebody get on it!

If someone wants to send me another casting then I could cut it up and make vac tools and try and vac form it.... That would be fun to try.......

I have just ordered some small screws with the flat slotted head and some tiny little nuts to screw on the inside so I can fix the green gel lenses in as per the originals. I will drill out the resin screws and replace them with real ones so it looks like the real deal from the inside. :D

That's really cool! I'd love a couple in 1/6 scale as the Sideshow helmet just doesn't cut it for me. Would love to see it finished !

Indeed. The SS helmet looks odd... Some people were using Marmit castings to replace the SS

Was there ever a possibility that this would be reproduced in 1/6 ? There are a few figures that i could use them for .
