Got an SDS Stormtrooper helmet recently. To quote the young farmboy, "What a piece of junk!" It is really flimsy and definitely very hand made. But it just shows how great they were made to look on film. But I love it. A little bit of history. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Lit from the inside! (You can see Ainsworth's signature through the thin plastic!)

In general, I like all the shots but the second. The second is at an angle that somehow feels "off" to me whenever I look at the AA/SDS helmets. However, that may be a subjective thing.

Other than that, it's quite handsome!

Can you post dimensions?

Also can you stand back 6 feet, zoom in, and post some shots? They would be valuable as comparison shots. I'll post some comparative shots later.

very nice helmet!! So you got the Stunt, eh? Supposedly made of styrene? I have a Battle Spec, out of ABS and supposedly CNC'd out of a new mold.
Mac, these pics were taken 6 feet away with a zoom.

Dang, Crow! You look like Scott Bakula!!!

Could you post specs on your Battlespec?

Also could you stand back 6 feet and photograph your helmet?

I'd like to see if we can create a library of standard angles and standard distances, poses, etc.

Thanks, guys!!

LOL yes I've been told I look like Scott Bakula LOL
If they ever make a movie about my life, maybe they could get him to play me. Then again who'd want to see that horrible story...

These were taken six feet away with a zoom...if you want one specifically, let me know and I'll snap it. The first shot was six feet away, with a zoom, at eye level (as were all of them except for the last two. the helmet was on the couch and I was standing up, six feet away).

Yours truly,
Capt Jonathan Archer

Ah, thanks for doing the 6 feet and zoom thing. It helps because I'm trying to guage the height and width. It looks flatter than some others, so I don't know if it's the angle. If you can put it on a table and photograph it while crouching at eye level, then start to stand and get a few angles, that would help.

I'll start doing a photo comparison table.

BTW, regarding "horrible"... there is nothing horrible about Archer and T'Pol tied up together and when they fall, he falls right into her boobs. :lol

yeah it might be that it's not on a little stand doo-hickey thing and resting by itself, hence the leaning back on the frontal shot.
I'll try to snap a few more. Meanwhile this is what it looks like on:

Nice helmets people! :headbang I truly like the SDS stunt helmet. I am agree, they look very hand made, but you know what, those kind of hand made "imperfections" it is what it makes them so unique and different to each other’s. I have a SDS hero just in case you want to take a look.

Thanks! I love your Hero helmet too. What a beauty. Maybe one day.

Mac, give me a day or two to shoot a few more from 6 feet away.

First of all: Andy, congrats! That's a very nice helmet. :thumbsup

@Crow: Nice armor. Looks SDS to me.

Can anyone explain to me why the Battle Spec's vocoder looks different from the other SDS TK helmets?

As far as I know, the SDS Spec vocorder is a separate molded piece from the helmet. I think that is mainly the difference. Correct me if I am wrong.

I didn't know that. Seems a plausible explanation.

Thanks! :)
