I found this on eBay, and had to Photoshop the photos to get a better analysis.

It appears to have an after-market paint job.

But it looks lovely.

If I'm not mistaken... this guy has tried selling this thing for years - previously setting the starting bid at $0.99 and then with a reserve of $700 - paint job looks similar with the grainy gunmetal and the gold letters in the DP stamp. With all the bidding it never got up above $350 and that was at the time of the height of Vader helmet sales... so I can't imagine what it would be at now - heard about as low as $180.

No way this guy can sell it for that price... unless some dupe pops up and thinks it's a nice score.

Think he inhaled a few too many fumes whilst painting it if he thinks it will sell at that price

That's one of the nicer ones that I've seen, but I agree he won't get anywhere near that.

Wow, I've been looking for someone who owns one!

Can you take some photos of the DPCA standing 6 feet away, and zooming in tight? Some where he's looking directly into the camera. Thanks!

Ok Mac i took these pics about 5-6 feet away or so. As i already said its hard to photo as its all black, i can see why they had to paint the mask for filming as it would just have been a big dark blob. Also im no David Bailey either. I have similar photos of the don post classic action trooper too if you want to see those.

Some people are down on Don Post stuff but I think that despite its faults it still looks lovely.

Is there any way to get a sharper focus? It might help to rest the camera on something if your hands are moving while you're photographing it.

You need more light. Probably better to photograph it outside. Would love a straight shot in good light for my Vader Helmet List... as the one I have now is a picture of a repainted one.

Looking really cool.

Best bet would be at eBay from a reasonable seller or on the RPF... though... they tend to go up to $350 there... because people absolutely HAS to speak up about what it was worth 1-3 years ago. Sad really.

I'll keep a look-out for one for you. I would love one for myself, but I have other purchases that needs to be secured prior to this... so no worries! :thumbsup

If it stops raining here anytime soon i will try taking some shots out doors for you NHM, that was a very bright day with as much natural light shinning in through the window, but my camera doesnt like this lid.
