Welcome to The Den, Ben.

Thanks mate.

I will be showing off my new HDPE helmet hopefully in a day or 2.I`ve
really chipped the crap out of mine and spent alot of time making it look like the real deal and am looking forward to showing how accurate it`s turned out.

Hi Ben - I agree that the original helmets totally vary in finish, but the one showed earlier had imo a gap between the cheek and ear that was too big and it didnt look correct.

In my view the point about having the correct colour HDPE was that people would be able to produce a lid that when painted would chip revealing the correct khaki-green colour underneath. The first ones TE made were done in a sandy-beige colour which I thought defeated the principle of using HDPE in the first place. After all a pink HDPE helmet is still HDPE but I'm not sure whether any of us would be happy with specs of pink showing through :lol :lol

Nice to see you here mate

Cheers

Jez

:eek Looking pretty nice so far! :thumbsup

I agree with you on the gaps. Most TK helmets looked (and still look  ) like crap. :lol

But hey, some of us just know how to appreciate that crappy look and I'm one of 'em! :as2

Oh... I know they were a mess. Though, I don't see what's amusing about it. Yes, some helmets have large gaps in their ears, but the helmet I want mine to resemble does not, which is why I need to modify mine.

I want the accuracy... but it is easier to take away than to add... and in this instance I have to add to it to make it accurate to the Set for Stun screen used helmet, which is a pain in the hiney, if it had simply not been trimmed so severely.

And gizmo: your helmet looks really cool! :thumbsup

Received mine from Australia this morning, interesting helmet, very flexible, will be closely examinating it at a later date when I have time (for a comp with other helmets).
The color is certaintly not as off as what people would think.
Fortunately the earcaps came untrimmed so I won't have the same problme as you Carsten.

I agree. The problem is most people are taking pics of these with a flash or in bright sunlight which totally washes out the true color of the HDPE.If you take pics in natural light like I did you will see what I mean.In the flesh the color is quite good.

Thanks for the kind comments on my helmet.More pics soon as I`ve had the flu for a week and haven`t had time to finish it.

HDPE: Wow that took a while to get there! I was just thinking about sending you an email to see if it had arrived yet. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Ben: Love the weathered look on your helmet mate, it looks spot on!

Man I want my propper helmets to hurry up and get here, after seeing some of the completed ones, I'm busting to get to work on mine. :)

Cheers

A tiny photo comparison between my TE and my AP helmet. You can definitely see some differences between the two. Also, I have been told that I may need to re-position the face on the AP. When the TE is painted I will do these again, as the different colors may be throwing off some details.
