Huh? The VMV2 had a magnet system. Or maybe it wasn't on all of them?

I don't think they all had magnets Carsten and i'm pretty sure this is one of the last ones made, had three keys in place of the magnets.

Yep, You are right this did have 3 tab shaped pieces on the crown but I only had two on it when I got it and the mounting block is not attached to the dome.
I have cleaned the block and the two tabs and they are ready to reattach.
I am trying a colour for the gun metal from Halfords called Mercury metallic Grey. It's a little darker than the gun metals and I think I like it.
I'll try and get some photos up tomorrow.... :thumbsup

I got a few coats of Black Gloss on this morning.
I'm gonna have to let it cure now for a couple of weeks before I wet sand and clear coat the dome and hand paint the gun metal on the face with a brush.

WOW, I think that your pretty much good to go as is with laying on the gun metal. Can't really see a need to clear coat it either, but thats just me.

In my very humble opinion you are done with the black. No sanding, no gloss clear coat needed. It's PERFECT!

And interesting to see all the rework done on this facemask to make these helmets.

Looking at the pictures again, there are a very few hazed spots. Could perhaps do with a quick spray, but be careful not to mist other parts. But other than that, I'm liking what I'm seeing. :thumbsup

Looking pretty sweet indeed! Was all of the gray brushed on? It looks pretty tidy for being applied with a brush. Did you thin the paint a little or just apply directly after putting it into the cup? Also how many cans of halfords gloss black did it take to cover the dome and mask? keep up the good work;)

Well, spray paint is already quite thinned, so I don't think there's need for thinning it additionally. Now I'm just waiting for the gunmetal to dry properly and then to see a paired up face and dome. Can't wait.
