is that a GH Dome cut in half? :eek that was very brave of you to do that. that is also a better way to improve how the mask mounts on the dome! :thumbsup

Decided to pick this project up again today.

Resculpted a portion of the neck.

Let's see how far this mask has come:

I can't believe it's been over a year since I touched this. A question was asked if I had cut the dome in two. In actuality, I cut the dome in three. I decided for this project that a wider dome was called for. I've always regarded the GH ANH regular castings as somewhat squashed. This was not a straightforward modification. Simply pulling the pieces apart and re-joining them does not automatically equate to a smooth flow of surfaces when regarded at various angles.

Fortunately the work paid off.

The resulting silhouette opens up some possibilities. However, I'd have to carefully resculpt the brow and fold line (or "dome crease")

The mask has also undergone extensive rework since I last posted. Please pardon the poor photography. I did upgrade from a Motorola Razr to an iPhone 3G. The iPhone's camera isn't the best, and I'm trying to save up for a better camera.

Here, you can see the proportions are much, much better than the kit was in its stock state. I will at some point rework the mid strip but for now this is starting to look well. The mask tubes are going to be redone, so it looks messy, so just focus on the proportions for now.

For some reason, I really like this shot. Here you can see the work I've done sharpening the fold line above the dome's brow. The proportions here look really good.

What you can't see, however, is that I've reshaped the mask's head. The skull was quite bloated. After rework, the mask is slimmer overall and no longer holds the shape of the original GH ANH.

It's going to be closer to the original prop. I think something that is roughly Don Post Deluxe sized will do good with it. I'll see if I can post some size comparisons in the future. I paired it up with a DS 20th Century and the DS was a touch too small. My "Quasimodo" faceplate's face is significantly larger than the DS.

However, most people don't know what the real life proportions are, so you might still be able to get away with such a pairing....
