My understanding is that the MR is made of fiberglass.
I have to agree with Jez, the SDS 'Hero' Helmet is more accurate than the MR Helmet, other than the angle of the faceplate (which can be corrected). By the way, any tips on how to do that Jez? I am planning to change and modify my SDS as well in the near future.
It seems to me that the faceplate on the MR Helmet is slightly smaller and narrower than the SDS Helmet as well, which you may notice in Jez's second photo.
Thanks for the great pics Jez!
Hi Zenwalker.
The only tips I have is a strong constitution - given the cost of the helmet and that you dont want to screw it up!
It is a hassle to do, basically tou need to remove the base trip amd all the screws so the face plate comes away. Then you need to try different positions with the face plate until you get the angle you like.
For me, in order to do this I had to take a good 3/4 inch off the top of the face plate as it was too high and therefore pushing against the curve on the inside of the cap section.
The problem is that you need at least 2 pairs of hands - so you can get the face in the position you like, and then mark the holes. Because you're making the face more vertical, the new screw holes will be nearer to the face so you're not going to see the old holes.
its not the hardest thing, just one you need to take your time over - i.e. measure twice, cut once!. If you have any clamps with soft ends on them then all the better. Growing a couple of extra arms helps!
Oh nice pics mikejedi
Cheers
