I believe this is what NHM is trying to indicate. Correct me if I'm wrong NHM.

I think you managed to show pretty well what I'm seeing. It's almost as if the upper eyebrows on the GH style helmets have been pulled up at the middle and the sides squashed in, in a way. The left lower eyebrow also have a very different shape to it and how it connects with the upper eyebrow at the corner.

Reshaping may account for this... but from a sculptural standpoint... this looks too far removed to be similar. I don't know about molding and casting and whether that could explain this discrepancy... or whether these parts were re-sculpted prior to molding for some reason... but sanding simply cannot account for the differences - not from how I see it... and you are free to disagree.

But the fact of the matter is: the GH style helmets' eyes are geometrically different from the original and "original cast" helmets' eyes. My opinion is that this feature has *sculpted* written all over it and not *cast*.

Maybe we should stop this discussion here... and continue it in this topic: http://www.aokforums.com/thepropden/the ... ut684.html

Your call, Darth Karo, as this is your topic.

Sorry I'm going so ot in your thread here Karo. But.... NHM, I saw you brought up the domes side-by-side a few posts back. Could you post those somewhere for us to see? I also have a few pics of 3 of my domes together. Just tell me where to post 'em, if anyone's interested in seeing them of course.

By all means you can change these posts to that thread which I believe is more appropriate in that section. I don't, however, mind it in this thread, so the call is yours NHM.

Unfortunately cannot merge topics over here... a real bummer at times, but oh well.

Still think that that CT with the unknown ESB dome looks really cool! :thumbsup

A new acquisition and one of my all time favorites. I've wanted a VM2 for the longest time and I finally have one. I need to take some better pics though.

Lucky dog.... I want one of these as well. They have just the right look, to my eyes anyway.

Yeah, since the first time I saw one, I thought exactly the same thing. It just looks like the vader we all know and love. I was lucky enough to be in the right position to buy one.

I like the VM2, one of the meanest looking helmets. It has a place in any collection. Congrats :thumbsup

Congrats! Nice one....

I know it's hard to believe, but trust me...the GH is not sculpted in any way...you can put it side by side with a faceplate that is close to the original and see that it's directly cast from it...and see exactly what changes were made...maybe I'll show that sometime...just maybe.... :ac6

:blah

I don't say the whole thing was sculpted. It is clear that it has traits from an original source, but some parts HAVE been re-sculpted - such as the left eye and the curve on the cheek that runs from the eye and to the tip of the cheek and the nose slots. Other than that... the sanding claim holds true... and some warping of the features to make it more symmetrical in appearance seems to have been done.

The warping I have noted - the nose and teeth angling the wrong way and parts of the skull structure - holds true to warping also seen in the licensed DP DLX and their CA helmets... which would make sense, since it is said that the GH originates from a source from DP Studios... that some of the same traits seen in their licensed offerings also show up in the GH style helmets.

Just a thought.

Do you mean that the teeth on the DP DLX and the DP CA are warped? From the little I've seen, the DP CA teeth are actually straight.

So hey, when I posted the pic of my Golden Armor next to a GH, how come I was told the GH has nothing to do with the DP? :toothy
