That makes sense. It just feels weird to me when someone might see a gorgeous Vader helmet that is ROTJ but call it "inaccurate" because the eyes are not flatter. Stuff like that is so weird to me.

No, not a huge or interesting point on my part. So my apologies to those who are searching through active topics!! Lol!

Curious to see what, if anything, will show up at Celebration in April.

Well, to me it depends on what the person posting it as. If he/she posts it as an ESB and it clearly isn't, then I think I'll comment on that. But, if they just post it as a Vader helmet and not trying to emulate a specific on screen helmet or movie style, then for all I care, they can pair a RotJ face mask with a ANH dome and ESB tusks and grills and all sorts of things and it wouldn't bother me. :)

Usually... if it looks like Vader, then I'll probably like it, but if they are presenting it as something specific, then I'd expect it to look like what they are saying it should look like.

Regarding the Anovos piece. I just don't understand why they have clearly gone with a Fyberdyne/Jeff/GH style face mask and a rather strangely shaped RotJ style dome with an added ESB widows peak detail.

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but thought it would be appropriate to post in this thread.

I found this an interesting watch:

The Comlink: Ep. 108 - Extended Interview w/ Heath Hammond from ANOVOS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAFiiwMmwoE

They talk about all various bits and their approach to costuming. Their visits to the archive and there's a section on the Vader helmet.

Thoughts?

18:12 is the start of the Vader helmet discussion with close-up shots. Bubble lenses he says are being added in the production run.

Actually, it doesn't look half bad in that video. I like the gunmetal color too, very subtle. And the dome mount idea is pretty cool to see in action.

entertainmentearth.com currently has the AVONOS Darth Vader helmet priced at $249.99 with free shipping for pre-order with delivery estimated September 2015:

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NVSWHELMET001#.VTYB4-ZMNcA

This is less than the initial AVONOS Tier 1 price ($299) and their current pre-order price ($449.95).

Advantages of ordering from entertainmentearth are 1) your credit card isn't charged until the item ships, and 2) shipping is free (in the U.S.).

I placed an order for one, but I suspect this is a pricing error by entertainmentearth as the other AVONOS items they have for sale are the same price as the AVONOS site, and it will probably be rescinded.

We shall see.

Looks like they noticed the discrepancy and it went back up. I checked it earlier and the price was lower.

Well you know what they say about something that seems too good to be true.... I sent an email to entertainmentearth asking if they would be able to honor the price of the order I placed and I got this reply today. Oh well.

"Thank you for your e-mail. We have inquired with our purchasing dept, and it appears that the manufacturer sent Entertainment Earth the wrong price information for this helmet in their initial press release announcing the item. They sent us a new press release last night correcting their prior notice. Our apologies for the error, and any inconvenience. We would not be able to offer the helmet for the original incorrect price."

I also checked with AVONOS customer support, and they apologized for the ooopsie, but didn't offer a price concession. They just reiterated the current $550 pre-order pricetag. Perhaps for the best anyway. I will instead keep an open space on my display shelf for an uber-accurate Vader to occupy it someday.
