I have a great idea for lenses. They're not as bulbous as the egg-like doming but if you're okay with something slightly curved and flatter, lemme know.

Man, I wish I could get my dome and facemask setup to look as well proportioned as that. You did a bang-up job there, T'!

I'm pretty sure it was an accident. :lol I'm almost afraid if I mess with it to much I'll screw it up.

The mask actually fits on my face now....before I almost had to have it surgically removed....I looked like the little kid from the first season of dr who....but instead of a gas mask I had a vader mask growing out of my face. :lol " Are you my mommy? "

Could you explain what you did?

Basically, out of the box, my dome looked like this (featured left). If you track the profile of the skull cap, the sides start turning inward so it looks like a baby's rubber nippe. I imagine you had to force the sides out a little?

Err... didn't he use a new dome? An AngryWookies dome?

NOOOOOOOO! This is the dome that came with ugly. The angrywookie is kind of wrong looking and since it didn't belong with the mask I decided to try and fix the proper one.

Now first question I have is....CS....How the hell did you get my helmet in your work room? :lol

To answer your question CS...I heated the dome from the outside and at the same time I pushed it into shape from the inside.....aas you already found out it only takes a little heat and in small areas.

As for the flare I used a rubies dome to take a measurment of how wide to open the flare at the bottom. The I cut two or three peices of 1x1 wood stock with each peice being wider than the last up to the width I wanted for the flare.

Then I heated the sides of the flare and forced the first peice of wood in...letting it cool to this width. Next I heated again and forced the next peice of wood in..ect.

After all the wood was used and I had the width I just started hand shaping by heating and pushing here and there.

There is also some filler to get out some of the sunken in areas.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup

Thanks Carsten....Its your fault any way.....you kind of threw the gauntlet down at the begining of this and made me realize that a different dome was cheating. If I was going to do this I was going to do the whole thing. :lol

Besides I think the wookie dome will be an undertaking all its own someday.
