Here's one more. This is just a proof of concept. I generally feel in my gut that the size of the dome is about right. The dome is tilted towards the camera too much, and I made do with this photo. I unfortunately don't have the time to take multiple shots as I actually have to get back to work (yes, I brought office work home).

Doing good. Just really tired. Pedal to the metal at work, but I'm very grateful to have a job in this economy. Now that I've gotten the hang of oil based clay, it's much more pleasant a medium than what I've used before. Granted, I have to be careful with tiny bits of clay getting into the carpet and stuff, for the most part, I don't sand. My tools are simple: a knife, a spoon, my hands, a mug, an empty wine bottle (as a rolling pin).

Whereas the old material meant waiting for a 12-24 hour cure and doing things slowly, bit by bit, that just took too long to get "into the zone", and you only had a narrow window within which to work. With oil-based clay (OBC) I can focus on the big picture. I can do more "edits" within a sitting.

And it's quite therapeutic. BTW, I'm using Klean Clay. Diana, I suggest you get some and have fun. :thumbsup

I will keep checking in to see how this comes out as this is fascinating on how you do this sculpting thing...I could never do that in school because of my hands....I can sew, do painting, weaving and yarn spinning but sculpting was not my forte'... :conf

If you see T-Virus tell him I say hello!!!!

Nut,

Do you have a sewing machine?

Sorry for the late reply but I had to get a used computer as my old one finally took a dive and wouldn't even log on the web! Took me a while to get this thing up and running as I lost everything when my other computer crashed and burned for the last time last week:(

Yes I have a sewing machine....

Why?

Nothing to update, Diana, which is why I've not posted. I haven't touched it for a few weeks as I've had to focus on work. It's sometimes better to step away for a time. Almost all my projects benefit from this these lengthly breaks give me a fresh perspective when I come back to a sculpt.

Getting the materials ready for molding takes some mental preparation....

Nut,

I appreciate you periodically following up, but I can't provide updates where there are none. This is not something I do according to a schedule. Rather, I work in random spurts depending on the flow of creativity.

I assure you, the project has not been forgotten. Sometimes I just have to change gears and work on something else. That's how my mind works. Usually the insight gained from one project fuels another. I'll likely resume some time in Spring, as I want to rethink the dome, as it hasn't quite turned out the way I want it to.
