BTW, here's how the tusk tips of the original TM ANH faceplate looked after the paint was stripped (before restoration)

Yes Brian means the cut face of the tube ends on the TD. Something I haven't shown in detail as I'm still trying to figure it out myself because I have mixed sources of information that don't agree. Brian has been kind enough given that I have sent him very good photos of the TD ANH to let me discuss it in my own time...thanks Brian.

Actually Tom it could be finished or unfinished....either is fine...but no biggie.

Is it possible that the trimming on the tusks / tubes was due to damage?
would seem the only logical reason to me.

It's all supposition just going by the cut mark on the mouth triangle. I had assumed repaired long and cut short.
