Well at first I thought it not to be kosher,
however on closer inspection , and compairing it to other Hero reference it looks to be legit ,
which unfortunantly could'nt have come at a worse time

Awesome. And the fact that the donor helmet has the lenses intact... well... that color controversy is over now. Doubt they used different colored material for the hero helmet lenses. So they were green. Cool.

The pictures in that slideshow were awesome.

So that is realy interesting:

Resin mic's on this screen used one? Or are they made out of plastic?
The big green lenses part, with the facemask imprint WOW!!! :drool
The moulds .....oh yeah baby that looks realy cool. :drool
So that replica is a must have for me.

So my hope is they will made them not out of fiberglas as the MR LE.

Actually interesting to see how much the molds were cleaned up before producing the hero helmets.

And whoever owns that original helmet has balls to allow it to be taken apart for molding. Kudos to him for letting that happen. :cheers

And with the hero face and the recent X-Wing helmets... I can't see TIE helmets and AT-AT helmets being far behind. They have the major components now.

Why does it suck to have the same materials and construction as the original ?

Yeah, I would think that would be one of it's main selling points for us über geeks. Cast from and made like an original. Can't get better than that.

Yes looks like the single pieces got screwed together.

Are there no teardetails on this helmet?
http://s1.directupload.net/images/110722/3bk62wal.jpg

About the lenses , it's the same fitting as on the Tie-fighter helmet's.
http://www.starwarshelmets.com/realtie23.JPG
Maybe therefore they could used both the green and the smoked ones for the heros.
It's the same hero-facemask.

The only thing which bother me on that prototype, it's to shiny.

The tear detail shouldn't be as clearly defined on the hero, as it is on the stunt. It is definitely there in the mold and looks to be in the unpainted prototype.

The inaccurate prototype sheen will be handled with the production helmets being accurate, as far as I've read.

Let's hope they find a way to fuse the plastic hidden under the ears, so it cannot be taken apart without tearing it to pieces, to prevent recasting.

It's not the price of the bucket that's the problem for me, it's the shipping. I'd imagine that the box would be a bit smaller than the Vader, which going by FedEx is going to cost me $818 for economy or $1192 priority. I'm pretty confidant that shipping for the Stormtrooper will be north of $500. It's one of those "Damned if you do (wife will kill me) and Damned if you don't (miss out on a really nice collectible)" scenario's. But it's getting harder to resist the temptation every time I look at the pics... Must... resist... :drool

Those shipping prices really are disgusting. How do they justify that you could almost get a return plane ticket and pick it up yourself. Sideshow would do the same size box for 1/4 of that price. I just got the avatar premium format shipped for $70 and it's a decent size box. It's really sad.
