That's looking fantastic.
I really must build mine, I just need to get all the kits machined up then I can get cracking.
What did you line the neck brace with? and did you have the base of the mouth piece included in the kit?
Do you have a pic of the kit sorted out as you started or did you just rummage around all that stuff on the table?
I hope those files helped...
More pics please.......
The files were extremely helpful! They answered a lot of questions I had about the thing. Thanks again!
I lined the neck brace with a thin piece of spongy foam. It was white so I lightly sprayed it yellow, and then to dirty it up like the original, I gave it a light misting of black.
I had a couple bases for the mouth piece. Here is one of them. I'm guessing that the one I used is a casting of the one here.
Most of the pieces were already sorted when I got it. Mainly they were divided between machined and resin pieces. I have a ton of extras I'll end up dividing and selling once I'm done.
I still had to make some of the parts on my own that were not included. I had to make the ugly brown "feeding tubes". With an extra piece of clear tubing, I cut them to the semi-correct length and stuck a copper wire to bend them into shape and hold them up for support. I could've gone the extra mile and made the lumps in them like the originals, but the ugliness of those lumps (and my overall laziness to make them) had me keep the tubes smooth. Then, I painted them with a mix of a latex copper and matte black. They look like real metal too.
I'm almost done, but still have a couple pieces and other subtle details to add. For now, here's a little teaser.
