I was trying to reply to a Rubie's mod thread but somehow replied to this thread instead, and now can't find the original Rubie's mod question.

Yeah i saw that , its a great thread with plenty of pointers! It was just in case there were any other threads or sites that were dedicated to it where i could pick some other useful tips. I see you went into quite a bit of depth with that rubies you were doing and got it looking impressive although as you mentioned it became more of a don post towards the end lol nice work it was though. I would be sticking to the more basic mods and at most perhaps attempting some alterations to the sides of the cheeks as this would be new grounds to me so the dome would probably need to stay the same until i knew more about the correct materials and tools used. Btw did you find out how your work on that helmet progressed?

Hey guys does anyone know a good guide on going about modding the rubies supreme vader helmet? Ive gathered quite a bit of info on what needs to be done. The dome mounting system needs replaced (further back and down) , teeth need to be squared , neck flare needs reshaping and trimmed , customize the lenses and the work on the nose etc . I know how i would go about doing these to an extent but a guide for newbies is always good to pick up some pointers and the more info the better.

I think this looks amazing for a rubies supreme!! Wish i could get it as good as this but i guess you need to the right equipment and set up to get it looking pristine. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f342/ ... C00555.jpg

It's a decent paintjob, but it still screams "Rubies Supreme". None of the inherant faults with the helmet have been addressed.

Does anyone know the type of mesh used on this DP CA helmet?

It was originally plastic, and the pattern wasn't accurate anyway. Just use metal mesh.

Any good ideas for stuff that looks good? Or just use the mesh that came with it?

A couple more of some more progress. Still to hit the clear coat and put in some backing mesh, tusks and all the interior padding etc.

Is there any bits you can see that could be sharpened or improved before it hits the clear coat? Ive not done any work the the dome yet. I think once the clear coat goes on it will look a bit better since the mat black will turn to gloss black and it will look more at home. Let me know your thoughts, likes or dislikes

Hi some pics of my new Don post classic action lid. This is the plastic version which is quite hard to find to my knowledge. The pics are not great i will try to take some in better lighting. Ive added some movie accurate mesh which i got on ebay as well as the lid. I prefer it to the fiberglass one as the shape of it is well defined. The paint job isn't the best when you look up close , i will show other pics of what i mean when i take more. I know i can get it looking better but overall i think it looks not bad.

Thanks man, yeah i prefer it to the fiberglass version for sure :) I want to give it a repaint at some point although i'm not sure about sanding it since its plastic and therefore don't want to risk any damage to the base of the lid. I guess if i just wet sand it with the correct grit sandpaper it should be ok.

Since it's vinyl, you can clean it with Gastrol Super Clean, also called Purple Power. However, it has to be submerged overnight, so it it has foam on the inside of the mask and velcro it may not be such a good idea.
