Current progress on all fronts. Took about a whole centimeters worth off the bottom of the Yoda kit, as he was too tall. May grind down another ½ centimeter to get it right. Not worked so much on the trooper yet, however, will reposition the arms into a different pose - not sure which one yet.

Enjoy:

I agree. The best I have seen in that scale. I think the manufacturer is called V-Jeen and that it's a limited piece - I was lucky to snatch one.

The helmet sculpt, I'm sad to say, is a Gentle Giant copy. Got the arms and blaster as well. Yeah, I know... hiding in shame.

Can't wait to work more on the Vaders, but I have to fill the legs with something, so the vinyl doesn't warp and make them topple over before continuing. Still struggling with whether to sculpt the cape as a separate piece or simply as part of the sculpt.

Oh man... you really have to try to forget the price of an item when really digging into it to make it more accurate... YIKES. Took a whole 1½ centimeter's worth off the height of the Yoda figure. Looks absolutely much better now - much better proportioned. Currently working on making the caps seamless, but man, do I like it.

May rework the chin... though... not sure about that.

Gonna make his little flute as well as reworking his cane or probably scratch-build one that looks more like the screen used piece.

Think I need a new saw blade from all this work done on this kit... felt a little dull at the end.

Not really the same angle, but you get the idea:

Did a new cane for Yoda. The one on the right is the stock kit that I tried to customize, but it looked ugly... so I made a new one.

Very cool. I agree about Yoda's height, he looks much better proportioned now. Keep it up!

Yup. That's him. Cool. At least he's recognizable, so my talent isn't THAT bad.

Here's some more Yoda. Painted his skin color yesterday... it looked good... but coming back to it I realized that it was too dark. So mixed a lighter color today and brushed it on. It looks a little flat and boring... but at least it's a better base color than before. Maybe still a bit too green!?

Stripped him and took him apart again. After a long while looking at him I decided to file some of the filler off at an angle towards the back, making him look up lightly. also took a file to his shoulders and gave him that old man's droop instead of the "pointy" normal shoulders the figure was sculpted with originally. Looks much better now. Still need a lot of cleaning up to do and getting the fabric pattern gently carved back in after the fix, as well as filling the gap. Also need to redo the feet to make them more accurate.

Then it's on to painting him up again and this time making less mistakes.

Sadly, it's too dark for a picture of the new look, but here's one of how he looked just yesterday.

Trying to match the angle, but not being too successful, but it's close enough to show the differences. The droop in the shoulders makes a huge difference.

The shoulders looks much better now.

How will you paint his face, just green or with shadows and highlight?
