That's a very pertinent question. I've been wondering if Disney/Lucasfilm desire could they declare it stolen property and want it back?

That's remind me a discussion with two guys who tried to sell, separately, two orignal ROS C 3PO facemask. (not at the same time).

Both removed the sale since Lucasfilm contacted them to buy the props.

Don't know if it was true, but for sure, it was two different facemask and looked authentic (not a recast or fan made).

And I never seen them surfaced later.

Thus, maybe that Lucasfilm try to get back some screen used props, but as you can seen sometimes, Propstore and other "society", have original items for sale... and it seems that Lucasfilm try nothing.

I doubt very much that LFL or even Disney has any claims to any of the pieces in this collection that originate from their productions. Unless LFL reported it stolen, they have no claim to it. The only reason they got that R2 dome back was because they had filed a police report of the theft. If they hadn't done that, then the current owner would be well in his rights to sell it to whoever he so chooses. At least that's what I got out of that discussion when the dome was attempted sold.

I'm sure there are abandonment laws in the UK like there are here in the US. Basically if you fail to claim a piece of property for a certain period of time, you lose all rights to it. Of course here in the US the "new" owner has to post such a notice in a newspaper, for example, to notify in a public setting that you plan to take ownership of said property. If the original owner does not come forward, it's yours. So I would imagine, as Carsten stated, if LFL hadn't claimed any of their props were stolen and they failed to claim ownership, they have lost all US legal rights to it at this point.

Probably all correct, but if I were Lucasfilm, I would investigate it, on the chance a report or claim was filed at some point. It is akin to a Frenchman losing his family's Picasso, and simply shrugging when it shows up in a California museum 35 years later. I hope Lucasfilm exhausts all options in any case.

Mhh... if this helmet above is from the Rick Baker mould as i understand, it might be the reason why Gino claimed there isn't a C scar in the mould and so also not in the cast efx did on there helmet?
As i don't see any C scar markings on that pic, too.

Just to get it right.

that helmet above is the screen used ANH which most certainly does have the C-Scar

With pic above i meant the pic of the "Baker ANH Promo faceplate" , not the pic which Leo posted in his post later.

@ Lambotour, thanks for the evidence cause of the TM. :salut

If it's there on this pic what dme3o posted , it's just veryhard to see.

Oh I agree with you that you can't see many details at all on that pic, I was just saying that paint can hide a multitude of details. :thumbsup

Hey! Sorry guys for the delay - no, this face does not look familiar. At ILM I do not recall any faces with as much "spray" in the paint. This is new to me.

I wish I had better examined the ANH era promo helmet that I did see (and take the one photo of) but it looked so $&**% next to the ROTJ hero helmet that I was always distracted.

Thanks Tom for the email and to Carlo, Mike.

Personally, I think it's likely to be the facemask. However, I've taken time before posting just to gain an analysis, based on Pete's comps, as well as the book. A couple of small things aren't 100% in terms of the Tantive Vader.
That's not to say it's not the one. Just that nearly 40 years and some issues regarding the exact paint and markings are diminished, or simply different. It's been repainted, in areas, which would make sense as KE regularly touched up parts of the costume himself, let alone, the chronicles re-paint and many further tour duties (Jefferson/Corbis) etc. I doubt the exact Tantive markings exist now, regardless.
