Isn't "Tour Suit" more apropos than "Movie Poster"?

Good point. Maybe "BB" is more apt at this point.

Well, IMO as I said on page 1, authentic cast but a mix, I think it's slightly ambitious to call it "MP" but to be fair the dome for one is almost good for it. We have already established it is a mix Qui, so I know what you are saying.

However If the majority like "MP" well then that is good for me also as the community won't just label something completely inappropriate so to speak, well apart from the "mystery helmet" :thumbsup

I made the correlation of MP to 'Movie Poster' helmet. I have no idea if that is what the MP stands for....pure conjecture on my part. The owner was kind enough to share lots of photos with us and if he is partial to MP, I say let's call it MP.

I think "MP" could be misleading. Newcomers to the community would see MP and, without knowing its origins, may believe it to be THE movie poster helmet. I think "BB" is better.

It's not misleading at all as we don't know what MP stands for. They're just initials. Newcomers don't know what any of the special mask initials (VP, TM, SL, DJ, etc.) stand for anyway and if they want to know, they can read these threads. Since it's late where I'm at, I say we name it the 'GN' mask. (Good Night!) :)

We don't have photos of the suit on tour, so I'm not convinced about calling it a tour helmet per se. But we have excellent photographic reference of the movie poster helmet which indicates that very likely this helmet is the movie poster helmet (that is to say, the dome). The mask is open to question still but it came with and seems to be intimately related to the helmet (same fiberglass? same resin? same paint?). So, personally, I don't think MP for movie poster is a misnomer.

I'll take the MP, the SL has a strangely GH look about it. Btw that doesn't mean I don't like the SL, and my comment is not mean't with any disrespect.

Everyone has their preference, certainly, and sorry for the OT, but I'm curious what you see in the SL that is GH-like? Maybe that's a compliment for the GH? I showed the comparison because the two helmets are possibly from the same mold because that mold was used to make helmets for promotions at that time.

Looking at that MP shot it seems to have a bit of wide angle distortion that the
SL shot doesn't suffer from.

Anyone agree?

I have been looking at this helmet a bit and I am wondering if anybody else is seeing what I am seeing on the left cheek (left looking onto the faceplate). I am not sure due to angles and the resolution on the pics given but does this new helmet have the same paint run down the left cheek and with it being heavily painted over it has dulled down and slightly widened. The tooth on the left side highlighted is also quite convincing it is the poster helmet possibly modified over time.

Well holy crud. Amazing what one can miss when they don't come around that often. I did not expect a new find like this! I'll have to dedicate some more time over the weekend to go through the thread again.

Thanks Jez for sharing these, and to your friend of course.

I do love that chest box!

The markings are in different locations on the cheek. I brought up the tooth a few posts back and it's the one of the most distinctive marks that tie it in with the ESB promo helmet.
