Probably old news to some, but how were the original ANH shins attached to the boots ? I don't think I've ever seen how they were originally done.

They are attached with straps that meet at the back of the boot shaft.

Thank you, I don't suppose you would have a photograph ? Were the straps an old fashioned metal buckle type ?

I cannot remember if elastic straps or leather. But on some shins there were three straps and on other shins there were two straps top to bottom.

Pretty straightforward.

Buckle or fastener I'm certain varied from film to film.

I never saw anything with velcro being used.

Shins were also uberlight vaccuformed plastic - not as heavy as fans use so make sure you have something sturdy strapwise

Awesome ! Thank you :) I think I'll go with two straps for these. I thought I'd seen a set that were used with the ESB movie promo suit , but can't remember if the pictures showed the straps. ( I can't find them now )

A few pics from ESB that contain some shots including the shin straps can be found in the topic http://thepropden.aokforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=4335

So that means the ones that came with my Rubies Supreme Vader costume are screen accurate. Cool!

A decent BTS shot of the shin attachments from ESB. I'd guess this is the stunt costume.

That's a good pic of it. Nice to see, even if he's got KISS boots on lol.

Hah I just noticed the heel height. Well it was late 70's early 80's, around
peak of KISS popularity. And the boots alone confirm this to be the Bob Anderson stunt costume.

Well. Since prowse lied about being able to fence, it's only fair that Bob only needed a little lift to get the job done properly....

Fairly certain that the ANH straps were elastic, loops without a clip or buckle, and there were 2 per shin. KE told me that the elastic was painted black, though that sounds a little whacky to me.

LOL, isn't a shame we can't seem to get the facts from the people who actually wore the costumes time after time, it's like they're trying to embellish their stories as it's their claim to fame so they want to be different.

I am a cynic, sorry
