Just whiped up a belt yesterday from odds and ends. It was a good way to unwind for an hour or two.

I have had these parts laying around in a bin for two or 3 years now. So I decided to make up a new belt for my display Vader. He doesn't have hands, or even a helmet and armor yet. Just sort of gets the retired trooping stuff.

The boxes are the real "Hammond" type, and hold my last set of green lights with the black base on them. These were mostly used on the tour belts, and I don't recall seeing them on any film used. The belt and buckle are from an old trooping belt. But a new saber hook is now in place of the old SA one that had been on there.

This belt is fashioned the same way that the film used ones were. It fastens in the front like a normal belt, and not like a normal costume one. This is the first one that I have ever made that I have done just a bit of weathering on. I have always shunned anything other than the spit and polish clean ESB type of Vader, but looking at this, it is kinda growing on me. This does look better in person than in a photograph. Somehow the flash just kills it.

That looks really good stone! I like how the belt boxes and buckle have those custom weathered look touches to them with the silver paint , really gives it that gritty realistic look! Nice display for sure, now a full shot now with the mask, boots and shinny shin guards to give it a cool contrast would be cool , but it's looking really good and original like the one used from the movie !. :)

Really nice belt indeed... Any possibility to see how your belt looks off the display?

I'm looking to do a similar belt that clasps in the front for my ESB and it would be great to see how you did this as a inspiration model.

Thanks all

Believe it or not, I don't have a helmet for this at all right now. I sold it to help with these doctor bills and I have not had a chance to make myself another. And the chest armor that I sculpted has now become a master buck and will soon undergo the mold making process. But I could in a few weeks do a full body display photo shoot of this mannequin, I may have to use someone else's helmet though. Would like to make some new poseable arms for him soon. I call him, "Annican The Mannequin". :thumbsup

In the meantime I will get some batteries in the camera and get some snaps of the belt off the display.

Na  To me that helmet is not for a stand up display, having it fall over and be further damaged is just to much to risk. It is safe and sound in a locked display cabinet, and I have no intentions of letting it go just yet. The one that I sold was one of the first completed copies from it with all of the fans and stuff in the forehead.

Thanks, Rob.

I have been just dieing to show off a new helmet that I have been working on. And it's not just one, but a whole line of OT helmets really. I have stepped back a bit from my normal urethane plastic construction. Instead I have been using some older methods, and have had some great results so far.

I have been spraying the insides of my molds with primmer, and then spraying in a few layers of the gel coat on top of that before laying up the 'glass. The big benefit is that the casting does not have to get loaded up with primmer loosing detail, because it is built into the casting ready to scuff and paint. And also with spraying in the gel coat VS a brush layup, it is far more even in thickness and with no puddles adding weight. Not to mention that you can get twice the strength with half the materials.

Yes I know, photos would be nice. I am currently down to one camera. And right now it and I are not really getting along so well. Hopefully tomorrow. :thumbsup

The lights were from an ebay seller known as "Sith Armor". It was a few years ago, and I have not seen them since. However there is this fella over on the RPF who says that he has a few sets still that are for sale. He commented on my ESB display project thread last week.

There is a nice handy way of getting electronic equipment to work. I've seen it in films all the time. Brute force or banging it with a wrench. It always works in movies. :hehe-err

I have tried Wolfbane and garlic, but am hopeful of the crucifix that I have attached doing the trick. :cheers

Well then, ya better stash 'em for this little bit of potage

This is after two days work, and getting the camera to finally come back to life. That is between waiting for something to cure while doing something else. Both faceplates start off as ANH, then converted to ESB. They need lots of work before they are paint ready, but you get the idea.
