 Post subject: Vader's mounting system.

I've been meaning to post this for a while and just haven't gotten around to it.

I took this picture while I was at C-4. Those who went know that there was a ROTJ Tour Vader helmet displayed there with the dome off so that fans could see inside and on top of the faceplate. While I was studying the faceplate I noticed the mounting ring looked to be machined out of aluminum. So then the question begging to be asked is if this is a found part, or one that was purpose made specifically as a mounting system for the Vader helmet.

I would love to hear other people's thoughts on this; Or alternatively see if anyone recognizes this part. Perhaps we could check this part off the unknown list if it does in fact exist out in the world somewhere. :thumbsup

Sorry for such a large photo. I wanted to show the mount ring as clearly as possible.

:cheers

I wish I knew the answer.

Incidentally, what do you use for the mounting rings on your ESB's? They look good.

The original could easily be a found part... but if you need more quickly and have the materials at the ready then machining a few extra could easily be an option. Don't think anything for certain about the screen pieces can be determined from the tour items.

Definitely a found part, and don't forget to use the correct mounting hardware. It's quite specific.

I just made a master out of ABS tubing and then cut out a circle the correct size from an ABS sheet. Then glued them together and made a mold.

I'll take a photo and post it later if you would like?

Yeah sure. I'll upload them to my Photobucket website and then post the link here.

So when are you gonna put us out of our misery and reveal what this actually is?

Does anybody know the true diameter of the ring?
