Well, I'd have to say a couple of the Members on this board really peaked
My interest when it comes to Sculpting.. Their Talent is without words and
I can only wish to be as good.. This is My very first Sculpt and while I should
have picked something a little easier, I figured what the Hell :)

I've never seen anyone do a Vader Sculpt and by Vader Sculpt I mean one
that closely resembles the original screen used Helmet. I tried as best I
could to add all the little wonky features that the original has.. I started this
Project over the weekend and just finished tonight (monday)...
Actually I do still have some touchups (cleanup) and some things to add, but for
the most part the Face is done.. Next the Dome :)!!!

The first picture is normal and very distracting because of the color of the Clay
( I should have done it in black ) So The second picture is the same
as the first only I darkened it up a little to bring out more of the details..

Oh man, that has so much potential. You've caught the sense of anger. It has a fierce look to it, very rugged and very focused. Great job so far, Doug! Keep up the spectacular work!

You've achieved in a first attempt what many have failed to do time and again. I can see you're aware of the various features that many people miss. My only advice at this point is to once in a while step away from the project, and to come back later with fresh eyes, and compare it with screenshots. Make a list of features as a kind of checklist to make sure you haven't missed anything. What's important is that you're happy with it. It definitely has character!

Thanks again Mac, and Everyone else too!!:)

Yeah, I've steped away many times to get a fresh set of eyes.. There are
some things that I wanted to do a little different like You'll notice the grill.
isn't perfectly sculpted making the slots look screwed up.. I made the slots
that will be later removed narrow, so on the cast I make from this I can
file the grill perfectly uniform, and ya know looking at the picture I notice
a lot more cleanup to do.. Jeesh it never ends, but I'm exteremly happy
with the results thus far..

Oh yeah lol:)
Something I forgot to mention is the Vader Sculpt is only the size of Your
Palm.. I've enclosed an early progress pic of it on a piece of wood.. The
orange thing in the background is the cover for an exacto knife.. I might
do a full 1:1 in the near future.. I tell you what though.. This thing was a
bitch to sculpt being so small :)

As the others have said; for a first attempt this is pretty darn good. I would try to get as many details right before molding it, as it might be difficult to fix things later.

I've tried doing one in 1:6th scale and it looked like horse shit and being too impatient I stripped it, started over, stripped it, etc., several times instead of just taking my time with it. Now there is nothing left of it 'cause I squashed it in a fit of rage... :lol

Keep up the good work.
